Ryan Dewey

Compassionate & skilful mentor

My name is Ryan Dewey, and I am passionate about empowering young people to lead healthier, more positive lives. I previously owned Waves of Warriors Gym in Port Elliot, where I offered Muay Thai Boxing classes for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to competitive fighters. At the gym, I ran youth-specific classes focused on teaching discipline, humility, honor, work ethic, self-awareness, respect, and, most importantly, overall well-being.

Through my time at the gym, I had the privilege of mentoring young people from diverse ages and cultural backgrounds in Adelaide and the Fleurieu Peninsula. This hands-on experience deepened my passion for guiding youth toward a better future.

My journey in youth work began with the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre, where I worked as a youth worker. During this time, I gained extensive experience supporting vulnerable young people with neurological differences, including Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, and other conditions. I developed specialized skills in helping these individuals overcome communication challenges, improve focus and concentration, and navigate difficulties in organizing their thoughts or following instructions.

Guaranteed Results

By addressing the physical, emotional, and social needs of clients, Ryan Dewey Sports & Mentoring delivers a comprehensive support system aimed at helping individuals transform their lives, build meaningful relationships, and thrive within their communities.

After my time with DHS, I pursued my love for fitness and martial arts, taking on challenges both locally and internationally. I competed as a fighter and coach in Muay Thai boxing and tested my endurance in marathons and ultra-marathons, including the legendary Marathon des Sables across the Sahara Desert and the Northburn 100 Miler through New Zealand’s rugged mountains.
Beyond work, I am deeply passionate about Martial Arts, Surfing, Fitness, and Music. These pursuits fuel my creativity, discipline, and drive, which I aim to share with the young people I work with.
I am a sole trader with a valid ABN, providing services in Adelaide and the Fleurieu Peninsula. I hold a current Working with Children Check and offer my own transport to ensure accessibility for clients. I hold certificates in the following areas:
Cert 3 and Cert 4 in Fitness, 200 hours yoga teacher training, First Aid, CPR, Trauma Informed Care and Counselling, Case Management Training 101/Basics of Case Management, Coaching and Mentoring.
If you’re looking for someone to mentor and support young people through fitness, positive role modelling, and skill development, I’d love to connect with you. Let’s discuss how my experience, passion, and dedication can meet the needs of the young people in your life.

Real people. Real results.
